  1. Argo Challenge

    Oct. 10, 2025

Heiko Kroeger, one of the best disabled sailors of all time, who often competes in open competitions, has no doubts: "The Argo Challenge to the America's Cup can become a great reality!".
The German sailor, Olympic gold medallist in Sydney 2000 and silver medallist in London 2012, in addition to 8 world titles, is currently the President of the International 2.4 mR Class. He continues: "We fully support this idea, and in our Class, there are several sailors with disabilities who could be part of the team. After all, we are used to being in a cockpit and steering the boat using only our hands. With adequate preparation, one can also be competitive".

  2. Argo Challenge

    Sep. 25, 2025

The Yacht Club Gaeta “Egeo Vittorio Simeone” and Argo Challenge are teaming up to compete in the 2027 America’s Cup in Naples with a groundbreaking mixed team of male and female sailors with physical disabilities.

The goal is to enter both the Youth and Women’s America’s Cup events, and potentially race AC40s alongside official teams.

“This is a real opportunity to showcase disabled athletes at the highest level,” said Olympic medalist Lars Grael, who supports the initiative.

“Gaeta will be the home of this important project,” added Yacht Club President Vincenzo Addessi.

“It’s a bold step for inclusion in sailing,” said Argo Challenge President Antonio Spinelli.
